Fields trip

Ted and Lisa Kessel stood outside their beautiful produce farm in southern Brooksville, breathing in the cooler crisp air. It was a beautiful fall morning and the couple was preparing to welcome some 150 second grade students from Chocachatti Elementary school on a class field trip they were hosting.

Within moments, the quiet morning was interrupted by three Hernando County school buses, inching their way up the long driveway. The children departed the bus as calmly as possible, trying to contain their excitement. Most had made this trip before, as first graders. They were well acquainted with the level of pure fun they were about to experience.

Lisa Kessel welcomed the group as parents and teachers mingled among the students. She gave each groupleader a map itemizing the different stations they would encounter on this second visit.

Some boarded the hay wagon for a guided trip to the back vegetable gardens, pulled by Farmer Ted and his tractor.we supply all kinds of polished tiles, Others headed toward the open fields to get a hands-on experience with animals and vegetation common to life on the farm.

Sweetfields Farm is located in the southern tip of Hernando County, in Masaryktown, where rural beauty is still gently preserved. Ted and Lisa Kessel purchased the property four years ago, planning to farm the land and offer locally grown produce.

Health-conscious for themselves and their young children, the couple wanted an opportunity to provide life-changing habits that would also positively impact the community.

"We used to take our kids to Georgia," Ted Kessel explained, where u-pick farms are available for children to gain a first perspective account of the farm environment. "It was such an amazing thing for them that we wanted to bring something like that here."

The farm opens to the public for a nominal fee during spring and fall harvests, offering different seasonal produce grown using organic methods. They host public visits during the weekends in May for the spring harvest and October through mid November for the fall harvest.

The highlight of the spring season, apart from the freshly grown produce, is the well-known sunflower maze. This memorable attraction boasts five acres of sunflower stalks ranging in size from 8 to 10 feet.

Visitors are challenged to navigate through the maze to the finish.

The fall harvest is in full swing, opening at the beginning of October. Apart from the freshly grown, mostly organic produce like zucchini, squash, green beans, different varieties of lettuces,Replacement China Porcelain tile and bulbs for Canada and Worldwide. okra and herbs, Sweetfields also offers family events like a corn maze (similar to the sunflower maze), vegetable picking opportunities and a colorful pumpkin patch.

But more than a local produce farm,The additions focus on key tag and magic cube combinations, Sweetfields Farm is also a learning tool, inviting the community to enjoy an education format that caters to some of the novelties of farm life.

Field trips are opened to area schools and place students in an atmosphere rich with education about irrigation, harvesting, picking, and caring for the crops and animals on the farm.

Simulators for milking cows and water irrigation are installed to give hands-on experience. Many of the students visiting the farm had only their last visit to pull from. Yet they seemed mesmerized by the variety of things to do.

Like Michelle Geiger, 7, who admitted she liked picking the green beans the best after taking the bouncy hay ride into the fields. Many of her peers squealed at the sandpaper-like texture of the cow and goats as they fed them treats.

It is evident from every angle of this farm that great care for the earth and its creatures was always the motivating factor.

Unique details, like planting grass seed on the roof of the goat house so the goats could climb the stairway and graze, or crafting a wooden walkway, extended at roof level, and allowing them to stroll above the land.

The chicken coop is an amazing sight — complete with henhouse modeled after a real barn and lofts.

The picnic and play area,It's hard to beat the versatility of zentai suits on a production line. dotted with huge hay bales painted and arranged into kid-friendly shapes, enticed these kids to play naturally with the land. Students climbed, jumped and played tag in the open air. Many were drawn to the old-fashioned wooden planked swings, strapped to tall, shaded oak trees.

The farm hosts events periodically throughout their harvest seasons and include weddings and scheduled charity galas. Weekends are open to the public from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Weekdays are usually reserved for field trips and other pre-scheduled engagements.we supply all kinds of polished tiles,

Sweetfields Farm is the perfect cohesion of natural organic harvesting with an educational introduction to life on the farm. The Kessels' dream, to open the land to natural harvesting while teaching a community about its natural resources, led to one of Hernando County's favorite places to visit.

A Jew and a Gypsy in Jerusalem

The story the Gypsies of Jerusalem tell about themselves begins with a camel. Many years ago, according to the mythology of the community, a powerful tribe called Bnei Mora lived in the Arab Peninsula. The tribe was known for its tough and fearful fighters.Replacement China Porcelain tile and bulbs for Canada and Worldwide. One day someone from another tribe, named Koleib bin Rabia, killed the valuable camel of Albasus, one of the well-connected girls of the Bnei Mora.

The murder of the camel caused a bloody war between the Bnei Mora and all the surrounding tribes. "The war lasted four years," says the present mukhtar of the community,The additions focus on key tag and magic cube combinations, Abed Salim.we supply all kinds of polished tiles, "All the men died and the members of the tribe scattered all over the world and became Gypsies."

The project initiated by the mukhtar and Regev, with the cooperation of the Jerusalem Municipality, the Ministry of Welfare and Social Services and the police, succeeded in putting dozens of children in school and fostering communication between the welfare authorities and the Gypsy families. Recently a special social worker was appointed to the community. The project was successful. Today, says Regev, not a single child is known to be outside an educational framework.

Aside from returning children to school, the biggest change, says Regev, is "that the Gypsies have learned to ask for help and to cooperate with whoever comes to help them. We have a decision that if a family stretches out a hand, we will pull it as hard as possible." Salim is optimistic about the future of the community. He trusts the municipality and the government.we supply all kinds of polished tiles," "We're Gypsies who belong to the country," he says.

Three and a half years ago Noga Buber-Ben David, a young researcher from the sociology department at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, entered the picture. Regev introduced her to the members of the community and she began field work and observations of the community, investigated its self identification and how the community is seen by others. The members of the community opened their homes and Buber-Ben David was like a family

In her study she diagnoses the situation of the community as "multidimensional marginality" - both in Palestinian society, which considers Gypsies foreigners and even objectionable; and as part of Palestinian society, which is also deprived and excluded by Israeli society. Salim is now trying to extricate his community from this deep pit of discrimination and exclusion.

The study reveals the racism and suspicion of Palestinian society towards the Gypsies. "You know that you're going to hell, be careful," said a resident of the Muslim Quarter, who is quoted in the study, to a Gypsy woman. The poverty and hardship are also reflected in the study.

"The entire household activity took place in the small house," wrote Buber-Ben David in her field notebook. "In the morning the mattresses on which they slept are piled up in the corner, and the room becomes a living room. The kitchen is very small, and contains piles of utensils, like the piles of mattresses. The walls of the house, which are full of pictures of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and close relatives, are peeling, the dampness can be seen everywhere, and the cold of February penetrates your bones."

Buber-Ben David analyzes the dilemma of the Gypsies,It's hard to beat the versatility of zentai suits on a production line. who on the one hand want to become part of the Arab surroundings, and on the other hand to preserve the vestiges of their ethnic and cultural identity and to receive recognition as a separate group in need of assistance. "It's a double-edged sword. The community wants to get out of its present situation and understands that the way is to be differentiated, so that the institutions will recognize it as a separate community; but that also separates it from the surroundings," she says. Intermarriages between Gypsies and Palestinian take place but are not common.

Buber-Ben David expresses cautious optimism about the future. She says that thanks to the activity of Salim and Regev the community is beginning to develop an awareness of status. "I observed a process that is taking place in a place where there is hope," she says. "A place that you can aspire to and not only on the level of daily survival. There is hope not for a major revolution, but for an internal revolution, in your community and the people alongside you. A revolution in the ability to live with dignity and to give the children an education."

Can Having Plants in Your Office Help to Increase Your Happiness Level

Can Having Plants in Your Office Help to Increase Your Happiness Level and Mood at Work?

I have worked in some really depressing looking environments down here in Alabama and I know how it feels to get up in the morning in an upbeat mood only to get in the car, start the engine, put it in reverse and then put it in drive and head down the road to that work environment with the equivalent looking atmosphere as if you were going to some dark cave in the mountains.

There are a ton of work environments out there where the office or maybe even your office is like walking into a shoe box. It has no windows and the only thing in your office is maybe an outdated desk with broken drawers that fall out of it every time you go to open them or your companies Mission Statement that has been hanging on your wall since the Taj Mah Hal was built.

I once worked in an environment here in Alabama where the company had been around since the early 1930s and when I went into their warehouse to do cycle counts I saw boxes on the shelves that must have been received the day the company opened because the boxes were so rotten that the paper and cardboard that makes up the box had rotted so bad the box sitting on the shelf that had the part in it was reduced to paper dust and the part had fallen out of the box, Unbelievable!

Yes,Replacement China Porcelain tile and bulbs for Canada and Worldwide. the atmosphere of your work environment does play a part on your mood and motivation while at work. I once heard we spend more time at work then we do with our families and most of the time nowadays if you are one of the lucky ones to even have a job in this economy you are doing the job of three or four people and are ending up burning the midnight oil sitting at your desk or work space.we supply all kinds of polished tiles,

This is now just a fact of life to have to work many long hours but the least your company or even you can take your depressing looking work environment and turn into one of the seventh wonders of the world by adding plants to your office.

According to the Society for Horticulture Science (ASHS) people who spend many long hours at work and work in an office with no windows,It's hard to beat the versatility of zentai suits on a production line. natural light form sunshine or even that don`t have plants sitting around their office have an increased dissatisfaction for their job and have more stress and reported depression.

This is a problem that is very fixable by adding live plants and offices with windows and sunshine that flows in like spreading soft frosting on a cake. The additions focus on key tag and magic cube combinations, A study by Dr. Tina Marie Waliczek Cade,These girls have never had a oil painting supplies in their lives! Associate Professor of Horticulture in the Department of Agriculture at Texas State University, and colleagues put together an Internet based study to see if offices with windows and views of green spaces as well as offices containing live plants increased productivity and employee happiness on the job.

The employees that took the Internet based survey that worked in offices that had live plants and windows reported a dramatic increase in job satisfaction and happiness compared to the ones that worked in those dreaded looking work environments with no plants or windows.

Even NASA has been involved in studying plants and how plants have an effect on air quality found through research that your everyday houseplants work as natural air purifiers. The original study on this was aimed by NASA at ways to purify the air for extended stays in orbiting space stations found that the same study has important implications for those on Earth, too.

For anyone that is into science or horticulture knows that plants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen through photosynthesis. This was something I learned when I was still playing with Lincoln Logs in Kindergarten. Since then, NASA has found that plants also do a lot more for the quality of the air you and I breathe by also removing harmful elements such as trichloroethylene, benzene, and formaldehyde from the air.

So since most office buildings are constructed with synthetic building materials and most of those offices and office buildings are tightly sealed and built you have the harmful elements floating around the air in them like an orchard of dandelions filling the air on a warm and spring like breezy day and with that you have what is known as the Sick Building Syndrome.

Andy Warhol in 'Headlines' at Washington's National Gallery

Andy Warhol, the guru of Pop art, reveled in a lifelong obsession with newspapers, especially tabloids and their garish headlines. As a teenager, he saved pages with photos of his favorite Hollywood stars. Throughout his life he packed hundreds of newspapers into boxes he called "time capsules" to whet the fancy of the future. He collected scores of fraying clippings about himself in 34 scrapbooks. But most important, he used newspapers, especially the front pages, to model and inform some of the most important works of his fine art. It is hard to imagine Warhol the artist without his headlines.

Warhol's news junkie obsession and its importance to his art are detailed with great care in a new exhibition at the National Gallery of Art in Washington titled simply "Warhol: Headlines." The show, which closes Jan. 2,By Alex Lippa Close-up of plastic card in Massachusetts. goes on to the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt in February, the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome in June and the Andy Warhol Museum in his hometown of Pittsburgh in October 2012.

Unlike a retrospective of all the work of Warhol, the exhibition attempts to concentrate on a single aspect of the artist that, in fact, reveals a good deal about him. Curator Molly Donovan of the National Gallery says, "the theme enabled me to tell a tight and focused story ... that had not been understood before." Donovan dates Warhol's emergence as a fine artist to a series of newspaper canvases that he created in the early 1960s. Until then, he had devoted himself to advertising design (including a lucrative campaign for I. Miller shoes) and magazine illustration.

In one 1962 canvas, "A Boy for Meg (2)," which belongs to the National Gallery, Warhol, using oil and egg emulsion, re-created the front page of the New York Post announcing a baby boy born to Princess Margaret of England. Margaret was a household name. Only a few years earlier she had given in to pressure from the British royal family and, while the world awaited her decision, finally agreed not to marry the divorced man she loved. She later wed a never-married suitor instead, and the New York Post was celebrating the birth of their first child. Both the tabloid and Warhol shared an excitement over celebrity.

Warhol's rendition was not a simple reproduction. It's hard to beat the versatility of zentai suits on a production line. He inflated the front page on to a canvas 6 feet high and, while he attempted to include every detail, his pictures looked more like drawings than photographs. Warhol was often obscure while explaining his work. John Russell, a New York Times art critic, once wrote that "Warhol operates behind a mask of inarticulacy." Yet Warhol seemed clear about mocking the notion that he served as no more than a mirror reproducing his subject matter. "I'm going to look into the mirror and see nothing," he once said. "People are always calling me a mirror,we supply all kinds of polished tiles, and if a mirror looks into a mirror, what is there to see?"

In another 6-foot-high canvas completed in 1962, "Daily News," Warhol used acrylic and pencil to mimic the front and back pages of the New York tabloid. This work celebrated Elizabeth Taylor's rejection of her husband, singer Eddie Fisher, for actor Richard Burton. "Eddie Fisher Breaks Down/ In Hospital Here; Liz in Rome," the main headlines bellowed. Warhol removed all the captions from the photos, leaving details to the imagination of the viewers.

The 34-year-old Warhol was little known when he exhibited these works, and the idea of Pop art — the use of the icons of popular culture as subject matter for fine art — was little understood. His work was not well received at first. Dore Ashton, an influential critic, wrote that "Warhol simply lifts the techniques of journalism and applies them witlessly to a flat surface." But that view changed. It was soon recognized, as Donovan puts it, that Warhol had elevated his hoarded headlines "to the status of art" and had transformed his material "into something both grand and personal."

Warhol attracted more favorable notice with other subjects from this period like his paintings of Coca-Cola bottles and Campbell soup cans and his many colored silk screens of Marilyn Monroe. These spectacular works won him great success. His followers started calling him "the Pope of Pop" and "Papa Pop."

Warhol never abandoned headlines as a subject — even when he sensed that the tabloids were losing their impact.we supply all kinds of polished tiles, A few years after he emerged as a celebrated Pop artist, he saw the demise of one of his favorite tabloids — the Hearst Corp.'s New York Mirror. He also believed that television was replacing the tabloids as the source of lurid, gossipy "headlines" about celebrities and disasters. To keep up with this trend, Warhol and his followers began experimenting with the creation of television programs.

The artist was an avid photographer, and he enjoyed aiming his camera at tabloid vending machines with visible front-page headlines. "Drug Link to Amtrak Crash," cried one New York Post headline while another said, "$1.3m Picasso Disappears Again On L.I." While in London, he photographed the news vendor announcements that summarized the tabloid headlines. "London Strangler 'Kills Again,'" said one.

Warhol's New York studio, known as the Silver Factory or the Factory, was a collegial enterprise with many hangers-on The scene, according to Donovan, "had become its own hot commodity, selling cool stylishness. When the stone sits in the oil painting reproduction," She describes it in the exhibition catalog as "a space where transvestites, heiresses, speed freaks, wealthy art collectors, rock musicians and Harvard graduates alike mixed together." The antics of the studio added to the celebrity of Warhol. "Don't pay any attention to what they write about you," he once said about media coverage. "Just measure it in inches."

Energy management systems steal the show at CEATEC fair

While electronics makers were already taking the environment and energy conservation into account in their products, this year's offerings at the CEATEC technology fair show that the energy shortfalls triggered by the March disasters have significantly spurred their efforts.

The Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies, the nation's biggest consumer electronics show,Replacement China Porcelain tile and bulbs for Canada and Worldwide. highlighted the trend with an abundance of new energy management systems for both homes and communities before winding down Saturday at the Makuhari Messe convention hall in Chiba Prefecture.

Manufacturers have high hopes of turning this rapidly growing sector into a new source of revenue as they struggle to best fellow Asian rivals in the TV and computer markets.

"When thinking about our daily lives and industrial growth from now on, we have to keep in mind that the power supply is not unlimited. If our industry can provide solutions (to the energy shortages), we can share them and contribute to the world," said NEC Corp. Chairman Kaoru Yano, who also chairs the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, when CEATEC kicked off Tuesday.

Panasonic Corp. showed off solar panels, fuel cells and home appliances equipped with wireless adapters that can send data on power consumption to smartphones and other devices.

The products can be used at home and would be monitored by a Smart Energy Gateway that automatically controls electricity consumption.

During peak demand hours, for instance, the SEG box can show wasteful consumption at home and optimize usage by switching from utility-supplied power to energy from solar panels or rechargeable batteries.

The firm is also promoting the idea of managing and optimizing electricity use for entire communities. This "smart city" concept is based on information technology-driven "smart" power grids, renewable energy sources and low-emission products such as electric vehicles.

Panasonic is planning to establish such a community in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, where it hopes to cut carbon-dioxide emissions by 70 percent compared with the town's 1990 level, it said.

Toshiba Corp. has also embraced the smart community concept and hopes to incorporate it in reconstruction work in the disaster-hit Tohoku region.we supply all kinds of polished tiles,

"We have been exchanging ideas with local communities in Tohoku and proceeding to reconstruct towns. In the process, we hope to introduce the new values of the smart community," said Hideoki Fujita, chief specialist in the company's smart community division.

Fujitsu Ltd., meanwhile, unveiled systems that can help utilities manage energy networks more efficiently.

Fujitsu's display at CEATEC included an automated wireless power-metering network. The system can transmit metering data to a utility once every half hour,The additions focus on key tag and magic cube combinations, which will virtually eliminate the need to send workers to check meters, Fujitsu said.

The campaign for energy management products was so prevalent that it crowded out conventional products such as TVs and computers at some booths.

Consultancy firm Fuji Keizai Co. estimates that the domestic "smart" meter market for electricity and gas will reach 267.5 billion in 2020 compared with 14.2 billion in 2010,These girls have never had a oil painting supplies in their lives! and that the market for large lithium-ion batteries will expand to 945.4 billion from 13.6 billion in the same period.

"In the past, Japanese makers were doing well by manufacturing quality products and affordable products," but other Asian rivals have become more competitive in recent years, said a Fujitsu employee.

"We have to change the way we think,It's hard to beat the versatility of zentai suits on a production line." he said.

Panelists warn cash grant for solar panels set to expire

A panel of experts and a state assemblyman explained that since cash grants for solar projects are set to expire at the end of the year, now is the ideal time for property owners, developers and non-profits to get involved.

Approximately 70 people attended the seminar, "Crunch Time for Solar" on Sept. 22 at the Stony Hill Inn. Even though it was raining during the seminar, panelist Adam Putter, president of Solar Roof Development, said in his opening remarks, "solar is still working on a day like today."

According to Putter, New Jersey is the second largest solar market in the country, with California as the largest. However, New Jersey is the biggest commercial market for solar panels in the nation.

New Jersey first got involved with solar panel installations in 2001 when six were completed. More than 10,000 installations have been completed to date.

"New Jersey has become the hottest market for solar," Assemblyman Upendra J. Chivukula,These girls have never had a oil painting supplies in their lives! D-17, said.

When the stimulus bill passed in 2008, which made the investment tax credit a grant, 50 mega watts of power were installed in New Jersey. Now there is more than 400 mega watts in the state.

Panelist Richard Weihe, a managing partner of Karbone, said that as of July, the target goal of watts of energy for 2012 was secured without getting one more watt. If 15 more watts of energy are secured in September and 15 in October, enough energy will be secured for 2013.

Putter said the number of installations grew so quickly because of the incentive of federal and state grants. He added that these cash grants are a "tremendous incentive for the industry."

But these grants are set to expire at the end of the year, making now the optimal time for property owners,When the stone sits in the oil painting reproduction, developer and non-profits to get involved with solar projects.By Alex Lippa Close-up of plastic card in Massachusetts.

While an Investment Tax Credit is available for 30 percent of the cost of a solar project through the year 2016, it's only available in the form of a cash grant until Dec. 31.Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet, The cash grant is awarded once a project is completed, but a system does not have to be completed by the end of 2011.

Panelist Anthony DiGiacinto, a senior tax manager at EisnerAmper LLP and the tax leader of the firm's Clean-Tech practice group, recommended starting a solar project before the end of 2011 to get the grant before the legislation expires.

He said that as long as 5 percent of the project is paid for or incurred before Dec. 31, people can receive the grant.

DiGiacinto said that to be certain the grant is obtained, "you don't want to just meet five percent, you want to go above it." On average the estimated system cost is $38,960,Demand for allergy kidney stone could rise earlier than normal this year. based on a monthly electric bill of $175. The cost of a system depends on variables such as zip code, utility and average electric bill.

Solar panels plan still alive say Winchester civic chiefs

COUNCIL chiefs have claimed plans to install thousands of solar panels on roofs in Winchester remain very much alive.

Winchester City Council cabinet housing committee members have agreed not to pursue a no-cost version of the scheme,By Alex Lippa Close-up of plastic card in Massachusetts. but stressed that they would still be looking to self finance the multi-million pound project, possibly through loans.

However, councillors were criticised for building up expectations and missing an opportunity to reduce the council's carbon footprint and tenants' energy costs.

The council had hoped to implement a "roof-rent" model to a potential 1,000 to 1,200 properties, using a commercial company to pay for the installation and maintenance of the panels. These girls have never had a oil painting supplies in their lives!

This company would then receive a government incentive over 25 years.

But a council report found that the promised potential financial returns were negligible.

Richard Botham, head of housing landlord services, said: "For a financial opportunity the proposal just doesn't stack up."

Councillor Tony Coates, chairing the meeting, said: "The very optimistic advice and numbers that we could have fitted these solar panels to in the early stages at these discussions just proved not to be there."

The scheme also faced a race against time to get the panels in place before a review of the government's financial incentive in April 2012, when it is likely to be reduced.

Mr Botham said he did not think "that was a good enough reason to rush ahead and commit the council" and that the financial pay back of the scheme despite a predicted 15 per cent 2012 reduction was still worth pursuing.

The scheme would cost 7m to install to 1,000 homes.

At a cabinet housing committee meeting last Thursday, members agreed to still go ahead with plans to implement a small-scale self-funded solar panel scheme later this year.

Liberal Democrat councillor Lucille Thompson said: "It's a great missed opportunity for our tenants who were looking forward to a reduction in their individual bills at a time when the cost of heating is rising. As many processors back away from Cable Ties ,"

Councillor Ian Tait (Con) asked whether the savings on electricity, at 100 per property a year,When the stone sits in the oil painting reproduction, had been considered.

However,Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet, councillor John Cooper said to "tie ourselves to a 25 year risk" would be irresponsible, but they would continue with an improvement program covering a wide range of options.

The Supervisory Board Unanimously Supported the Restructuring Strategy

At its 28th regular meeting on 27 September 2011, the Supervisory Board unanimously supported the restructuring strategy of the Sava Group. In implementing the strategy, the Management Board expects a full support from the financial partners – banks-creditors of Sava. The decisions about disinvestments will be made in the final phase of the marketing-based examination of options for disposals, which will include all real and financial investments that Sava d.d. has. The process of producing a new development strategy of Sava has began at the end of this March when the new Management Board of Sava took up their duty. The renewal of the strategy and the business model was dictated by the effects of significant impairments of Sava's financial investments (decrease in rates of securities), which the company recently had to carry out due to the financial crisis,Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet, as well as by the need for strengthening the cash flow and decreasing financial liabilities, and the problems of organisational and business nature so characteristic for all strong diversified business systems such as Sava is. The key operations, in particular the largest ones – Rubber Manufacturing and Tourism – operate in a stable manner and generate profit from operations; however, in the given circumstances, Sava d.d. does not have sufficient assets for financing all investments necessary for further development of operations in order to create conditions for their competitive position over a longer period of time

The Management Board of Sava d.d. who began their term of office at the end of this March, prepared a short-term measures programme in May to improve the operations, and in the following months it upgraded it through a new development strategy, which as to its content represents the umbrella strategy for the business-financial restructuring and consolidation of the Sava Group in the upcoming medium-term period until the end of 2014, which will be the foundation for a new development cycle of Sava.

our graphics test document was not without quality flaws

The attractive Lexmark Prevail Pro705 bundles a useful set of features for the office crowd, including wireless connectivity, an autodocument feeder and duplexer, speed text out, and an impressive five-year warranty.

The bad: We don't expect an office-friendly printer to output studio-quality snapshots, but our graphics test document was not without quality flaws.

The bottom line: The Prevail Pro705 is Lexmark's all-purpose office machine and we recommend it for home offices or small workgroups; just don't expect it to print out high-quality graphics or high-resolution photos.

Review: Unlike the consumer-oriented Platinum Pro905, the Lexmark Prevail Pro705 is designed for office use with a button-based control panel, an autodocument feeder (ADF), and other features to encourage smooth business work flow. At $200, the affordable and speedy Pro705 will be a helpful office assistant, but we hesitate to recommend it if you're printing a lot of photos.

The Prevail Pro705's gray-black color palette is typical for an office printer, but its smooth edges and rounded paper input tray shave off the sharp corners and make the device look more streamlined than the traditional rectangular

Are Promotional Flash Drives Set to Dominate The Marketing World?

We've all got one. Usually sitting by the phone, tucked away in a drawer or in the

glove box in the car. They usually come from banks, charities or insurance companies

and they are great to have around when you need to write down a phone number or an

address. Promotional pens have slowly taken over the promotional market and are now so

successful that there's barely a home in the country that doesn't have a branded pen

sitting by the phone.

For years they have dominated the marketing world and been used to enhance marketing

campaigns and increase brand awareness for a countless number of businesses. For the

last two decades their dominance has been unrivalled and because of their affordability

and practicality nobody thought that was ever going to be challenged…until now.

Originally just an executive item that was expensive to own and flashy to be seen with,

the memory stick came into a marketplace that was at the time dominated by a small,

chunky lump of plastic. If you wanted to carry your reports and spreadsheets around

with you and open them at another computer, you had only one option, the floppy drive.

If you wanted to carry music around with you, that would be a job for CDs. Flash drives

were initially such a leap in technology that they were expensive items that could not

be afforded by everyone and not even be considered for all but the most lavish of

promotional items.

Times change and most importantly, technology evolves. With every year that passed the

memory capacity of flash drives sky rocketed and as a result the prices started to

tumble on the smaller memory sizes. Although small in comparison to what is possible

with the technology, these smaller sized flash drives were more than capable of holding

entire music collections and storing everything from movies to essays. With the prices

now coming down, everybody could afford them and their popularity shot up.

The technology doesn't stop advancing though and now the standard sized flash drive of

around 1-2GB is extremely affordable and that is what is attracting companies to use

these in their tens of thousands as branded items to market their business.

The huge advantage of flash drives is their practicality and this makes them extremely

popular as a promotional item. A product that is practical is one that is going to be

frequently used and with this frequent use comes plenty of visibility for the logo on

the USB drive. Not only does this enforce the company name into the mind of the user,

it also acts as an advert for anybody who happens to notice the flash drive in use.

There are also brand image benefits to be gained by putting a logo onto a flash drive.

They are still a relatively new technology and so any company using them for promotions

will be seen as a forward thinking, modern business.

It is for all of these reasons that the pen became so popular as a promotional item. It
