In cane harvesting season, there are many critical links to ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.

None more so than getting the sugar cane to the mill.

The first week of crushing season at Mulgrave Central Mill has been spent bedding down a new, $1.7 million bin tipping facility.

This year the mill is expecting to crush around 1.Detailed information on the causes of Hemorrhoids,1 million tons but general manager Peter Flanders says there is significant capacity to do more.

Mr Flanders says the recent investment gives the mill more flexibility in the way it handles its cane supply - including crops which previously were milled at Babinda.

For the tightknit cane growing community of Babinda,the Injection mold fast! it's been a tough week.

To the north and south, sugar mills have fired into action but at Babinda, the old mill stands dormant. Cane from the district is now being sent to South Johnstone to be crushed.

Charlie Zappala - whose family has been growing cane at Woopen Creek since the 1950s - says it will take some time for the community to deal with the mill's demise.
More job losses expected in live cattle export ban fallout
