Apartment scoured for evidence in Kinston mom's slaying

Investigators yanked out plumbing and seized drain covers, a towel, washcloths and bedding from a Raleigh apartment where they think a Kinston mom was killed and dismembered, according to search warrants released Tuesday.

The apartment, at Bella Park Trail just off Lynn Road in North Raleigh, was the home of Grant Hayes,Do not use cleaners with high risk merchant account , steel wool or thinners. 32, and Amanda Hayes, 39, the two charged with murdering Laura Jean Ackerson. The warrants released Tuesday also revealed what investigators seized from a Ford Focus that belonged to Ackerson, 27. She was last seen July 13, and her car was found July 20 at a northwest Raleigh apartment complex less than a quarter-mile from the Bella Park Trail apartment where the Hayeses lived.

Investigators swabbed the Ford for DNA, lifted latent prints and collected a hair strand, according to warrants.
