Apple patent shows iPad tablet with two USB ports

Apple’s market dominating tablets the iPad and iPad 2 were originally designed to boast two USB 2.0 ports, an unused patent filed buy the Cupertino company has revealed.



The patent, which covers both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options, also granted Apple coverage to incorporate a second, landscape docking connection, a feature that would allow users to port their Apple tablets on landscape specific docks for improved movie viewing possibilities.

With a USB port topping many iPad owners additional features wish lists, Apple’s decision not to push forward with a patent that it received prior to the second-generation model’s arrival will be disappointing to many.



Tipped as a possible for the iPad 2, the patent which depicts an iPad with a second, horizontal docking port, dubbed simply “portable display device,” accredits Apple CEO Steve Jobs, chief designer Jonathan Ive and 13 other Apple personal as the systems inventors.
